The project addresses the limitations of current additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, particularly Selective Laser Melting (SLM), in terms of repairability and cost-effectiveness for large-scale parts. SLM is effective for complex and intricate components but is slow and expensive, particularly for larger parts requiring repair solutions that minimize downtime and costs.
